A & D
After 35 years of cultivating a career in the workforce, we chose to leave our familiar environment to serve God full-time. In these past five years of full-time service, God has led us into the lives of mission workers, allowing us to become their support on the front lines. Looking back on these days, our hearts are filled with gratitude; the following is a letter from a front-line co-worker written after learning that we were about to depart for a new mission field:
A Letter from a Front-Line worker
"Dear A & D, Peace in the Lord:
I am writing this letter with a heart full of gratitude and a deep sense of reluctance to see you go. Hearing on Thursday night that you will be entering a new mission field to begin a new service in the coming year, we give thanks for the Lord's guidance and sending in your lives; at the same time, many memories and attachments truly well up in my heart.
Looking back at the days of your companionship over the past nearly five years, our hearts are filled with thanks. Your meticulousness, gentleness, kindness, integrity, and sincerity in service and care have been a great comfort and support to us. Whether it was companionship in ministry, listening in life, or intercessory prayer and reminders during times of weakness and confusion, you always lived out the love of Christ before our eyes in a gentle yet firm way.
What is particularly unforgettable to us are our two meetings this past year: one in City X after the Mid-Autumn Festival, which was brief but warm; and one in City B during the Spring Festival, which was exceptionally kind and authentic. Those face-to-face interactions, prayers, and sharing were not just meetings during a trip; they became precious and long-lasting memories in our hearts. Even as time and space pass, the sentiment of knowing and entrusting each other in the Lord still resonates.
To us, you are not just co-workers used by the Lord, but you are like an older brother and sister who love and care for us. That calm, gentle, humble, and consistently honest way of walking together has deeply influenced us and become an extremely precious grace and role model on our path of service.
Although you are entering a new phase and the external form of our connection will change, we deeply believe that the connection in the Lord will not be broken because of this. We will continue to intercede for you in your new mission field; may the Lord personally prepare the path ahead, granting wisdom, strength, and joy from Him, so that wherever you go, you become a blessing to many.
Sincere thanks for your silent but real dedication over the years and thank you for accompanying us with your lives. May the Lord personally remember all your labor of love, faithfulness and fill you with His peace and grace.
With gratitude and blessings, and with the hope of meeting again,
Respectfully, G in the Lord "
Why Leave When There Are Already Good Results?
Our departure is because we see the vastness of the harvest field and the urgent needs of the front-line workers. To care for them and walk with them more effectively, we deeply feel that we must step out of our "comfort zone" and live among them.
Perhaps everyone has a desire in their heart to be used more by God, but we often hesitate to move forward due to lot of concerns. However, when we are quiet before the Lord and willing to take the first step of obedience, God will remove the obstacles on the road one by one, allowing us to serve God and people more freely.
God has a unique plan for everyone. Participating in global missions does not necessarily mean "going far away," but with the changes in the situation and environment, we need to seize every opportunity to bring the gospel to unreached people. Whether it is preaching the gospel locally or supporting front-line missionaries through prayer and finances, every bit of participation enables them to testify more powerfully, so that the gospel spreads throughout the world! Amen!
