These two weeks in CCEC have been extremely fulfilling and rewarding. I had been longing to come back ever since my last visit in 2019, and I was finally able to come due to loosened travel regulations. Coming into the trip, I was actually quite nervous, as the previous years had been amazing but extremely exhausting. However, I’m glad I didn’t back out of the opportunity, as this year’s trip has taught me so many new things through experiences that I likely would never have been able to have.
Under the guidance of Ms. Sabine, our teachings were much more organized and we were able to get through our material smoothly. The games that we played with the students during the first week were a bit stressful for me, as I felt that I was letting my team down by participating; however, the kids never got frustrated at me and encouraged me to keep going and never give up. The students that we taught were all amazing, and their hard work and fun personalities were greatly appreciated throughout the long school day. Sometimes, the students would wave at me randomly throughout the day, which would always cheer me up and bring a smile to my face. Occasionally, they would even give us small gifts such as stickers and keychains, and their kindness was heartwarming. Even when the students misbehaved, they were able to get back on track and would usually try and fix their mistakes. Teaching is an extremely tiring experience, but the students were always very patient and kept up their cheerful spirits. Seeing them eager to learn and persistent in their studies is so motivating, and I could definitely learn a few things from them. Honestly, it felt like a mutual teaching experience, as the students taught me how to be more understanding, interactive, and accommodating.
Through the trip, I was also able to see other people’s connections and faith in God, and I was very inspired by their dedication and commitment. Even though there were challenges with the weather and emotions, support from the rest of the mission team was so helpful and allowed me to conquer my thoughts and push through. I am so grateful to have had this team as they have been so kind and understanding, and we have had so many great moments together.
I am so thankful to have had this opportunity in Thailand and I have learned so many valuable lessons and I have had so many wonderful experiences!
